Description
Dragonfly feasting on a tasty morsel in my herb box! What a treat when they come to visit.
~Dragonflies have always been the subject of intrigue. The word 'dragonfly' originated w/the belief that dragonflies were once dragons! They, their taxonomic cousins, damselflies, & the family they belong to, Odonta, were also believed to have teeth [Odonta is the Greek word for tooth], but, facts show that they instead have strong mandibles used to crush [their] prey. In almost every part of the world dragonflies symbolize change & self realization, both mental & emotional maturity, as well as the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

Fascinating info to your amazing macro capture Brooks! There are even fewer dragonflies this year as well, although I have at least spotted a few. They are so mysterious and magical to me, and always tend to literally follow me around when I am in the garden. It is strange, but in a good way.

HI Sharon! Just seeing this now, 28 days late, lol! Better late than never. Yes, fewer everything but birds & squirrels this year. Boohoo. Thank you so much. Wonderful that they follow you around the garden. My hummers and blue jays do that...and the squirrels when they see my bag of peanuts, lol.
