~Dragonflies have always been the subject of intrigue. The word 'dragonfly' originated w/the belief that dragonflies were once dragons! They, their taxonomic cousins, damselflies, & the family they belong to, Odonta, were also believed to have teeth [Odonta is the Greek word for tooth], but, facts show that they instead have strong mandibles used to crush [their] prey. In almost every part of the world dragonflies symbolize change & self realization, both mental & emotional maturity, as well as the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

I have always been fascinated by the finesse of dragonflies, the limpidity and transparency of their wings! A great photo, Brooks!

Dragon flies are generally described as restless. But in your image he seems to be quietly trying to balance himself. A cute capture, Brooks.

Seriously, such an incredibly sparkling and magical looking creature! I swear these guys follow me all around the garden when I am there, watering or whatever. Not ones that look quite as dazzling beautiful as this, but some just feel curious and seem to like me. A lovely capture that absolutely makes me believe in magic. I wish the hummingbirds acted the same!! lol
