Mother's Day was spent up at one of our many mountain lakes here in southern Oregon and, en route home, this beautiful meadow of purple-pink sweet peas, aka 'vetchling', greeted us just as the sun was setting behind the hills. My husband & I walked out into the middle of the field of wildflowers, found a comfy rock to rest on and were serenaded by the songbirds while surrounded by a fragrant breeze. How could I not think of leprechauns & magical lands across the sea? McDreamy.

Lathyrus is a genus of flowering plant species known as sweet peas and vetchlings, found in the legume family, Fabaceae, and contains approximately 160 species. Native to temperate areas with a breakdown of 52 species in Europe, 30 species in North America, 78 in Asia, 24 in tropical East Africa and 24 in temperate South America. There are annual and perennial species which may be climbing or bushy.

Beautiful landscape Brooks! One can easily stroll into the scene, reach up to take and apple from the tree, take a seat on one of those stones and watch the sway of those purple-pink flowers as a gentle breeze blows by.
