Description
While gardening yesterday, I looked up to see 'this little bird' sitting on the fence right above me happily tweeting away. Luckily, the camera was also sitting right next to me, affording this sweet capture. Love our Oregon juncos.

Dark-eyed Juncos are neat, flashy little sparrows that flit about forest floors of the western mountains and Canada, then flood the rest of North America for winter. They're easy to recognize by their crisp (though extremely variable) markings and the bright white tail feathers they habitually flash in flight. One of the most abundant forest birds of North America, you'll see juncos on woodland walks as well as in flocks at your feeders or on the ground beneath them.

Beautiful photo of a Dark-Eyed Junco with good detail, exposure, and composition. Nicely isolated by the dark green background bokah. Your Oregon sub-species is much more interesting than the Slate-Colored subspecies that we have in the Northeast! F/L
Brooks Garten Hauschild replied:
Morris, many THANKS for stopping by & saying such nice things! Appreciate your time, the kind comment re my little bird & the F/L. Congratulations, again, on your 1st place win in my 'Funny Faces' contest, btw. Well deserved. Have a great day!

Wonderful shot, Brooks! What a treat to have such a visitor. You say, "Luckily." Luck is being ready for a surprise opportunity. L/F
Brooks Garten Hauschild replied:
You are so right, Bill! But, was lucky in the sense that the little bird sat patiently while I fumbled about to get ready for the shot, lol. He/she did 'jump' over to the gate from the fence, still it perched long enough for about 10 good captures, which made me happy. Thanks for the 'wonderful' & your kind support!
