Description
An old cemetery, dotted with aged granite headstones & grave markers, sits silently on a hillside near the outskirts of town overlooking Emigrant Lake. You can see a few flowers adorning some of the sites, but most of the resting places are unattended & left to their own. Beautiful & peaceful, a white ornate iron railing w-gate decorates a portion of a shaded spot under some oak trees.

Thank you so much, Conni! I agree. Love stumbling upon them, this one out by the lake about 5 miles from town.

Doug! Awesome to see & hear from you! Thanks very much for your visit, the very kind, thoughtful words and your support. I, too, enjoy the quiet solitude surrounding places of rest & wonder about the folks/families named in the grave-markers. There is a beautiful old stone gazebo in nearby cemetery I'm wanting to capture, as well, when I get a chance. Have a great weekend!

Wonderful capture and description Brooks... So peaceful... count me among those who enjoy a quiet stroll around the headstones of the dearly departed. I find it interesting, trying to figure out the various family relationships, ages and more. L& F

You are in good company lady. An artist friend and I both enjoy going to cemeteries. In fact, we went up towards Onion Mountain Lookout (can't get gain entrance yet) and walked among the burned out forest. We could see the "forest for the trees". Almost like visiting a cemetery of sorts. It is eerie yet beautiful and serene. Anyway I'm enjoy this site and the chance to view so much great art. From your neighbor to the north, Marie
