"Brooks' painting has a luminosity reminiscent of some of the works of Odilon Redon. On closer look, one sees how the flowers are placed in a way that the eye is drawn up from the bottom to the top and then around, taking in the whole painting. Everything Brooks has done in her use of color placement also supports this. She has left the center open, giving a dimension and depth to the work. The yellow used to infuse the warmth and light is limited to the more central area, a skillful use of the open space in that part of the painting."
